PUBLIC NOTICE
BOARD OF ABATEMENT
WILMINGTON, VERMONT
The Board of Abatement is hereby warned to meet to consider the following request for abatement of part of the taxes, water charges, sewer charges, interest, and/or penalties due, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 4:00pm at the Town Hall and via Zoom.
Taxpayers should appear and be ready to present their evidence at the date and time of this meeting. You are not required to attend, but keep in mind that if you fail to attend the meeting, your abatement request will be decided based on the information submitted in your Abatement Hearing Request Form.

- Call to Order by the Town Clerk to request nominations for Board Chair.
- Approve the minutes of January 17, 2024.
- The Chair will conduct abatement hearings in the following sequence:
- Open the hearing, stating the name of the applicant, property location, and parcel ID number.
- Ask the applicant and witnesses to take the following oath:

“Under the pains and penalties of perjury, do you solemnly swear that the evidence you give in the cause under consideration shall be the whole truth and nothing but the truth?”

- Request Board members to disclose any conflict of interest that exists and/or ex parte communication that has taken place.
- Ask the applicant if he/she has received a copy of the Board’s Rules of Procedure and whether he/she has any questions about how the hearing will proceed.
- Ask the applicant to identify the statutory abatement category that the abatement request is being made under. These categories are set out at 24 V.S.A. § I535 (a) (1)-(10).
- Allow the applicant to present verbal and documentary evidence supporting the abatement request to the Board.
- Invite questions from the Board.
- Close the hearing and explain that the Board will enter a deliberative session and will issue a written decision within 30 days of the hearing.
