Zoning Administrator / Health Officer / Wilmington, Vermont / Salary $58,350 – $64,330

The Town of Wilmington, Vermont is seeking an energetic, innovative and effective full-time Zoning Administrator and Health Officer.  The primary position acts as the Town Administrative Officer pursuant to Vermont Statutes Title 24 to administer, implement, and enforce town zoning and sign ordinances, assisting permit applicants, while providing staff support and technical assistance to the Planning Commission and Development Review Board. Wilmington is a scenic four-season tourist destination with a population of 2,255 located in the heart of Deerfield Valley, home to Mount Snow and Haystack Mountain; with a walkable historic village, restaurants, stores, lakes for boating and swimming, trails for hiking and biking; and much more!   

The recommended minimum qualifications are an associate’s or bachelor’s degree with min. 2-years of experience in zoning administration: working knowledge of town zoning codes and town planning; ability to interpret, explain and enforce town zoning codes, to work independently and collaboratively; excellent record keeping, organizational, and people skills; ability to interpret and administer town and state health codes. Consideration is made for qualifications in a related field and/or a combination of training, experience, knowledge and ability over min. 3 to 5-years (i.e.: building construction, zoning, land use planning, development review, etc.).

Requirements: U.S. citizen, minimum age of 21; must have a valid driver’s license; high school diploma (college degree preferred). Applicant must be able to perform all the essential functions involved with police duties. Police testing, including a physical fitness examination, polygraph, oral board, medical exam, fingerprint check and extensive background check will be required of applicants selected for hire. Preference shall be given to VT-certified officers (hiring bonus up to $7500 for eligible pre-certified officers).
