Wilmington Flower Barrel Request for Proposals

The Town of Wilmington requests bids for the purchasing, planting and maintenance of the Town Beautification flower program for the summer of 2022-2024.

Proposal Specifications:

The Town of Wilmington maintains a beautification program that includes planter boxes/hangers on and around the Town Hall building, the bridges east and west of the town center, 62 large and 25 small whiskey barrels, and flowers on three of the Town’s Welcome signs at the east, west and north entrances to Wilmington, River Bank Park, Memorial Hall, Reardon Bridge, and Pettee Memorial Library. Approved contractor will work with the Town Manager and the Beautification Committee under the following plant descriptions.

Bid is to include:

Replacement of 20 hanging liners and 80” hayracks

53 large wooden whiskey barrels:

4 pink whopper begonias

1 plectranthus-argentatus/silver shield

2 yellow lantana

2 blue scaevola

2 sweet potato vine

Total 10-4-inch plants + 1 plectranthus-argentatus/silver shield-6 inch= 11 PLANTS TOTAL

 

6 large wooden whiskey barrels-shade:

1 colocasia

4 pink dragon wing begonias

2 white sun patiens

2 yellow lantana

2 blue scaevola

2 sweet potato vine

Total 12-4-inch plants + 1 colocasia-6 inch=13 PLANTS TOTAL

  • Planting flowers in the barrels and window boxes
  • Planting medium
  • Explanation of the type of ongoing maintenance you would provide for the planted flowers
  • Planting to commence Memorial Day and end Columbus weekend if weather appropriate
  • Cleaning up the flowers at the end of the summer season
  • Town of Wilmington will place and pick up the barrels
  • Total cost for all work

Wilmington reserves the right to reject any and all bids if it is in the Town’s best interest to do so. Please submit a proposal for a three-year contract. All multi-year contracts to be approved by the Selectboard.

 

Insurance Requirements Upon Contract Approval:

Certificate of Liability Insurance in the minimum amount of $1,000,000 and either a Certificate of Workers’ Compensation Insurance OR a waiver form (hold harmless agreement) is required. The certificate should name the Town of Wilmington as an additional insured for the work the contractor will be doing. Federal W-9 form must be completed and returned to Town.
